Lara Howe

Lara Howe is an Isle of Man based outdoor photographer with a passion for the natural world, both above and below the water.

Having grown up in Hong Kong and lived all her life on the coast, she is particularly inspired by the marine environment and the interface between land and sea. Her images have been used in two sets of Manx stamps and currently at an exhibition at the House of Manannan Museum about marine natural history. She is also a Biosphere Isle of Man photographer.

From her first sea swim at 2 weeks old Lara was obsessed and has continued to follow her passion going on to study marine biology at the University of Liverpool, obtaining her degree and doctorate. She currently works for Manx Wildlife Trust as their Marine Conservation Officer. She is a keen diver and has been for over 20 years, travelling the world exploring and observing the wonders below the waves.

Lara’s photography journey began at the age of 8 when she was gifted her first camera, accelerating with the purchase of a DSLR in 2008. Her focus has always been on the outdoors, with inspiration coming from nature and its surroundings. She hopes that her images will showcase the environment, inspiring and encouraging people to explore and appreciate it for themselves.
